ISTANBUL — 06 September, 2026 (News Desk) — Turkish actor Serhat Mustafa Kılıç, who portrayed the character of Mikhail Kosis in the popular historical drama series Kuruluş Osman, has been found dead at his home in Istanbul. The 51-year-old actor was reportedly found motionless in a chair by his friend Özlem E. on September 5 at an apartment in Istanbul’s Kağıthane district. According to reports, Özlem E. had been trying to contact the actor since September 3 and went to check on him after receiving no response. Upon finding that Kılıç was not breathing, she contacted emergency services. Medical teams arrived at the scene and confirmed his death. His friend reportedly told police that the actor had been suffering from lymphatic cancer. Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death. Initial examinations found no apparent signs of physical assault or open wounds, while authorities sent his body for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Born in 1975, Kılıç was a prominent Turkish film, television and theatre actor who began his artistic career in theatre in 1998. He later appeared in several television and film productions, including Kuruluş Osman, Muhteşem Yüzyıl: Kösem and other popular projects. His film Kış Uykusu was awarded the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 2014. The actor had earned a significant following in Turkey and internationally through his work in television, film and theatre.
