ISLAMABAD, 1 November, 2026 (Nosheen): Como returned to the Serie A top four after edging past bottom-placed Venezia 1-0 at home on Sunday, recording their fifth consecutive victory in all competitions. Despite controlling much of the match, Como struggled to convert their dominance into goals and relied on a penalty to secure all three points. Captain Lucas Da Cunha calmly converted the spot-kick in the 43rd minute, scoring his first goal of the season. Da Cunha said the team had found such matches difficult to win last season, adding that the result demonstrated the progress they had made. Como had slipped to fifth place following AC Milan’s victory over defending champions Inter Milan on Saturday but regained their position among the league’s top four with the win. Cesc Fabregas’s men are now one point behind Roma, who defeated Udinese 5-2, and two points behind Inter and league leaders Lazio. Fabregas described the victory as a significant step in the team’s development and praised his players’ attitude and mentality. Como will next face Lens on Wednesday as they resume their UEFA Champions League campaign. The Italian club has collected six points from three matches and currently occupies ninth place in the 36-team standings, making it the highest-ranked Serie A side in the competition. Como, who were playing in Italy’s third division as recently as 2021, strengthened their European reputation with a 4-1 victory over Manchester United in the previous round of continental fixtures.
