A delegation of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) met with IG Punjab Aamir Zulfiqar Khan at CPO
The 8-member delegation headed by Mr. Jeremy Milsom also included officials from the Royal Embassy of Norway. During the meeting, the UNODC delegation informed about the training of the staff of Women and Juvenile Facilitation Center in Gujranwala. Ending the incidents of violence, harassment and rape against women and children is one of the top priorities of the Punjab Police. Instruction of IG Punjab to start work for establishment of Women and Juvenile Facilitation Center in Lahore and Rawalpindi. The cooperation of UNODC and Norwegian Embassy in establishing the Women and Juvenile Facilitation Center is appreciated.
Specially trained women and personnel have been deployed in this center to investigate gender and child related crimes. The Women and Juvenile Facilitation Center will assist in the investigation and prevention of crimes related to women and children. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime delegation briefed the IG Punjab about the facilities available at the Women and Juvenile Facilitation Center. Country Head UNODC said “the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime will support Punjab Police master trainers and investigative officers with advanced investigative skills“. Under e-learning, advanced training will be provided for capacity building of investigation officers regarding narcotics control. During the meeting, it was agreed to increase the bilateral cooperation to increase the efficiency of the police force. At the end of the meeting, honorary souvenirs were also exchanged between the IG Punjab and the UNODC delegation. Other officers including Additional IG Training, DIG Operations and DIG Training were also present on the occasion.
