Terrorists have targeted the policemen on security duty of anti-polio team in the northern district of Bajaur of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Terrorists have targeted the policemen on security duty of anti-polio team in the northern district of Bajaur of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the police, there has been an explosion in Belot Farsh in Bajaur area, as a result of which 5 police officers were killed, while 22 were injured.

The Bajaur police have said that the explosion took place near the police truck. According to the Bajaur police, the said policemen were on their way to provide security for the anti-polio campaign team when they were hit by the blast.

The police truck was completely destroyed by the explosion.

The bodies and the injured have been shifted to Khar Hospital, the police have started investigating the incident.

The nature of the blast was not immediately known and no terrorist group claimed responsibility.

Following the attack on the police, the polio campaign in Tehsil Mamund, Bajaur Tribal District, has been put on hold. After evaluating the circumstances, the campaign will be declared to have resumed: Division Commissioner Malakand.
