Karachi, 16 October, 2026 (Nosheen): Renowned Pakistani actor Faisal Qureshi has commented on the Indian government’s reported attempts to restrict Pakistani dramas, suggesting that the growing popularity of Pakistani television content among Indian audiences may be a reason for concern among Indian authorities. Speaking during a podcast, Faisal said Pakistani dramas have helped viewers across the border discover a more relatable side of Pakistan, allowing them to understand that Pakistanis are ordinary, educated people whose lives, emotions and experiences are not very different from their own. According to the actor, this growing cultural connection may be one of the reasons behind efforts to restrict Pakistani television content in India. Faisal also highlighted the continued popularity of Pakistani dramas among Indian viewers, noting that several well-known Pakistani serials continue to attract considerable interest across the border. He added that even recently released Pakistani dramas have received positive responses from Indian audiences. Discussing the reported restrictions, Faisal claimed that some Indian viewers had turned to virtual private networks (VPNs) to continue watching Pakistani content despite the reported ban. He suggested that the audience’s determination to access these dramas had put pressure on the Indian government to reconsider its decision. Emphasising the broader role of the entertainment industry, Faisal said Pakistani dramas serve as an important cultural bridge and help present a positive image of Pakistan internationally. His remarks have once again drawn attention to the cross-border popularity of Pakistani television productions and the role of entertainment in promoting cultural understanding between audiences in Pakistan and India.
