Kalar Kahar bus accident
14 people died, and more than 60 were injured in a bus accident near Kalar Kahar Motorway, Motorway Police. The bus was 49 seater and only 49 passengers were on board. Due to brake failure, the bus overturned after hitting the vehicles coming from the opposite direction. Two cars coming from the opposite direction and a Shahzoor pick-up were also hit, said a spokesman for the Motorway Police.
DIG Motorway Muhammad Yusuf was present at the accident site and supervised the rescue operation. Due to the darkness, there was difficulty in the rescue operations. The bus was going from Islamabad to Lahore; Barati was riding in the bus, spokesman of the Motorway Police. The bus has been pulled out; one lane is closed while traffic is moving in two lanes.
Motorway Police and Dikar Rescue Agencies have completed the rescue operation. According to the initial investigation, the accident occurred due to the negligence of the driver. Further legal action is underway.
