LONDON, 10 October, 2026 (Ghufran): Indian actor Katrina Kaif has spoken out against body-shaming and the pressure to meet social media expectations, warning people not to let online criticism determine their self-worth. Speaking at an event in London marking the UK anniversary of her beauty brand, Kay Beauty, Kaif addressed the scrutiny she has faced over her appearance since becoming a mother. She emphasised that people should be careful not to allow social media narratives to affect their confidence, self-esteem and personal value. Her remarks came weeks after she and her husband, actor Vicky Kaushal, attended the Ambani family’s Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Mumbai in September, where photographs and videos prompted comments about her weight and appearance following childbirth. The couple welcomed their son in November 2025. The criticism sparked support from fans and public figures who condemned body-shaming, particularly when directed at women after pregnancy. Filmmaker Soundarya Rajinikanth was among those who spoke against judging women for changes in their bodies after childbirth. Reflecting on the impact of constant criticism, Kaif said that allowing every comment to dictate her actions could have left her “paralysed with fear” and prevented her from moving forward in life. She added that while people may sometimes receive widespread appreciation, there are other moments when they must become their own biggest supporters. Her message highlighted the importance of self-confidence, personal well-being and resisting unrealistic beauty standards promoted on social media.
