LAHORE, 27 September, 2026 (Nosheen): The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has yet to conduct a forensic examination of Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan’s mobile phone despite making multiple requests for access, according to sources. Sources said Rizwan had not fully cooperated with the NCCIA inquiry and warned that the agency could pursue legal action if he failed to cooperate. They said the phone’s anti-theft and facial recognition locks need to be disabled to complete the forensic examination. Although the NCCIA can reportedly unlock the device using mobile forensic tools, sources said the agency was avoiding their use because they could potentially result in the deletion of some data. The agency is expected to contact Rizwan again on September 28 and could issue a written notice if he does not cooperate with the investigation. Sources also claimed that some individuals were encouraging Rizwan not to cooperate, while the agency has not levelled any allegations against him pending completion of the inquiry. Meanwhile, cricketer Imam-ul-Haq is cooperating with the NCCIA investigation, with a forensic deep analysis of his mobile phone initiated in his presence. The NCCIA is examining the matter from multiple angles, including online betting, corruption and possible criminal activities. The inquiry was launched during Pakistan’s England series following media reports concerning discipline, conduct and alleged dressing-room leaks. On September 7, the Pakistan Cricket Board said it had initiated an internal disciplinary inquiry, while Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq were subsequently barred from participating in the President’s Trophy Grade-I domestic first-class tournament on September 11.
