LAHORE, 27 September, 2026 (Ghufran): Pakistan’s Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem and compatriot Yasir Sultan will compete among 14 athletes in the Asian Games javelin throw final on Monday, with Arshad’s coach confirming that the star thrower is fully fit and in good form. Arshad will lead Pakistan’s challenge as he seeks another major international achievement, while Yasir Sultan’s participation gives the country two representatives in the medal competition. Sri Lanka’s Ramesh Tharanga is also among the athletes expected to attract attention, while two Indian throwers will feature in the final in the absence of India’s leading javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra. Arshad arrived at the competition after preparations in Lahore and Japan, where he trained under Japanese conditions. His coach Salman Butt said Arshad had maintained his training routine and was in good form ahead of the final. The competition will feature 14 athletes, with rankings to be determined by each competitor’s best valid throw.
