Lahore, 17 September 2026 (Nosheen): The Lahore High Court (LHC) has dismissed a petition filed by Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Rizwan challenging proceedings initiated against him by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA). Chief Justice Aalia Neelum heard the petition, during which Rizwan’s counsel, Advocate Umair Qazi, argued that the NCCIA had issued notices to the cricketer without justification and that the matter did not fall within the agency’s jurisdiction. The lawyer urged the court to declare the proceedings unlawful. The court directed Rizwan to submit a response to the show-cause notice and appear before the NCCIA. During the hearing, his counsel said a response had already been submitted, but the NCCIA rejected it and subsequently issued fresh notices summoning the cricketer. The LHC subsequently dismissed Rizwan’s petition against the NCCIA proceedings. Rizwan and Pakistan cricketer Imam-ul-Haq appeared before the NCCIA in Lahore on September 10 in connection with an investigation into alleged dressing-room information leaks during the team’s England tour. According to sources, both players requested additional time to submit their written responses. The NCCIA is investigating information obtained from the players’ mobile phones, including their activities and contacts during the England tour, as well as the alleged leakage of information from the team’s dressing room. Sources said the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) handed over the players’ mobile phones to the NCCIA as part of the investigation, while another Pakistan player was also issued a notice by the agency. The development came after the PCB launched an internal disciplinary inquiry into matters relating to discipline and conduct following Pakistan’s poor performance against England. The PCB had earlier recalled seven players to Pakistan after the team suffered heavy defeats in both Tests against England.
