LONDON, 27 August, 2026 (News Desk): Pakistan’s experienced wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan and all-rounder Salman Ali Agha are likely to retain their places in the playing XI for the second Test against England at Lord’s. Rizwan, 34, has played 46 Tests, while Agha, 32, has represented Pakistan in 28 Tests. Captain Babar Azam has indicated that Agha remains his first choice to partner left-arm spinner Ali Usman as Pakistan’s second spin option. The expected selection comes after Pakistan suffered an innings-and-103-run defeat against England in the Leeds Test, leading to criticism of several senior players. Earlier reports had suggested that young wicketkeeper Ghazi Ghori could make his Test debut in place of Rizwan, while Agha was also considered at risk of being dropped. With Babar Azam returning to the side after missing the Leeds Test, 30-year-old Saud Shakeel is likely to make way after scoring only five and 14 runs in the match. Despite speculation that Sajid Khan could be brought in as a second spinner following Ali Usman’s impressive figures of 5-95 in Leeds, Agha is reportedly the preferred option. Another possible change could see 26-year-old fast bowler Ubaid Shah replace Khurram Shahzad. Ubaid made his Test debut against the West Indies in Port of Spain, while Sajid has taken 77 wickets in 16 Tests at an average of 28.81.
