Consul General Attends Memorial for Mountaineers Lost on Broad Peak

New York, 09 August 2026(Ghufran): The Consul General of Pakistan in New York attended a solemn condolence memorial organized by the Consulate General of Nepal in New York to honour ten mountaineers from China, Nepal, the United States, Oman and Pakistan who tragically lost their lives in an avalanche on Broad Peak in Pakistan.

Expressing profound sorrow over the tragic loss of lives, the Consul General paid tribute to the courage, determination and spirit of the deceased mountaineers and conveyed heartfelt condolences to their bereaved families.

Speakers at the memorial expressed appreciation for the prompt rescue operations and assistance provided by the Government of Pakistan following the incident. They commended Pakistan’s efforts to assist the mountaineering community during the difficult situation.

The memorial brought together members of the diplomatic and mountaineering communities and highlighted the spirit of solidarity and shared humanity among mountaineers from different countries.

The participants observed the occasion with deep respect for those who lost their lives while pursuing their passion for mountaineering.
