Lahore, 20 July 2026(Kamran Raja): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially announced the launch of Season 2 of the PCB Talent Hunt Programme for Schools (2026–27), marking a significant expansion of its grassroots cricket development initiative aimed at identifying and nurturing young cricketing talent across Pakistan.
The announcement was made during a press conference addressed by PCB Senior General Manager Domestic Cricket, Osama Sharron, and former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq.
Speaking at the media briefing, the officials highlighted the success of the inaugural season, which featured participation from schools in 39 districts. Building on that success, the second season has been expanded to include schools from 100 districts across the country.
Under the PCB Talent Hunt Programme for Schools 2026–27, approximately 1,200 schools from across Pakistan will participate, making it the largest school cricket initiative undertaken by the PCB.
Training camps for participating schools will commence on 10 August, while the tournament is scheduled to begin on 15 September.
The competition will be conducted in four stages District, Divisional, Provincial, and National allowing young cricketers to progress through a structured pathway based on their performances.
PCB officials said the expansion reflects the Board’s commitment to strengthening grassroots cricket and creating opportunities for talented young players from every region of the country.
To ensure the successful participation of schools, the PCB will provide financial support (funding) as well as technical assistance, enabling schools to prepare their teams and compete under professional standards.
The PCB Talent Hunt Programme for Schools is a key component of the Board’s long-term strategy to discover, develop, and prepare the next generation of cricketers who will represent Pakistan at the highest level.
