Defender Waqar Baloch highlighted the impact of head coach Stephen Constantine Solano (commonly known as Coach Solano), describing him as an experienced and inspiring figure who has introduced a positive and professional environment within the squad. He noted that the coach has prioritized giving opportunities to local players, particularly in the absence of overseas-based footballers. The squad has largely been selected through performances in the National Challenge Cup, contributing to a balanced and competitive team structure.
On the team’s physical readiness, Baloch expressed satisfaction with the players’ fitness levels, crediting trainer Raiyan Abbasi for his dedicated work. He acknowledged that fasting during Ramadan presented additional challenges for the players but emphasized that the team has adapted well after spending nearly two weeks training together.
Addressing the importance of fan support, Afridi remarked that playing in empty stadiums can be challenging, as football thrives on atmosphere and crowd energy. He urged fans to continue supporting the team, assuring that the players will give their best to secure a positive result.
Commenting on team chemistry, Afridi clarified that despite the introduction of some younger players, most of the squad members have played together previously. He praised the quick adaptation of new players and highlighted the strong, friendly environment within the team, which has contributed to effective communication and understanding on and off the field.
Looking ahead, Baloch expressed confidence in the team’s chances. He noted that Pakistan has competed strongly against tough opponents in the group, including Syria and Afghanistan, securing draws in closely contested matches. He acknowledged Myanmar’s strength but pointed out that Pakistan delivered a solid performance in their previous encounter. With improved preparation this time, he conveyed hope that the team can achieve a winning result.
The Pakistan team remains focused, motivated, and determined to capitalize on their preparations as they take on Myanmar in this important fixture.
